Multi-story buildings are visible in the background. The right part shows a panoramic view of the square with well-maintained rose beds and green landscaping. In the background are multi-story buildings, including a hotel with “ІВАНО-ФРАНКІВСЬК” and “ТУРИСТ” signs on its roof, as well as a “СЛАВА КПСС” (Glory to the CPSU) billboard. Historical note
Stalingrad Square was one of Ivano-Frankivsk’s key public spaces during the Soviet period. The monument to V.I. Lenin, dominating the square, was a typical element of urban planning of that era. The “Tourist” Hotel was an important infrastructure object serving the city’s guests. The square was actively used for public events and demonstrations.
Present day
Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Stalingrad Square was renamed Vichevy Maidan. The monument to V.I. Lenin was dismantled. The “Tourist” Hotel is now known as the “Nadiya” Hotel, and the square continues to be one of the central places in the city, though its architectural and ideological appearance has undergone significant changes.
