Historical note
The “Verkhovyna” tourist base in Uzhhorod was a prominent destination for Soviet trade-union tourism in Zakarpattia. It hosted numerous organized groups traveling through the Carpathian region under the auspices of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions and the “Sputnik” youth travel bureau, providing dining facilities, equipment rental, and guided excursions.
Present day
Today, the complex has transitioned to alternative uses. The former tourist base buildings are utilized for commercial projects, hotel services, or temporary housing, while still retaining their mid-century architectural style inspired by local Carpathian motifs.
