Historical note
Khmilnyk gained the status of a state-significant resort city following the discovery of radon mineral waters in 1934. The military sanatorium was established after World War II to rehabilitate servicemen. During the 1960s and 1970s, the complex was actively expanded with new multi-story residential blocks and medical facilities.
Present day
Today, the facility operates as the Central Military Clinical Sanatorium ‘Khmilnyk’ of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. It continues to specialize in treating diseases of the musculoskeletal, nervous, and cardiovascular systems using local radon waters and peat mud.
