Historical note
Petrovsky Park in Poltava was established in 1905–1906 opposite the Provincial Zemstvo building (now the Poltava Local History Museum) and named after Peter I. During the Soviet era, particularly during the post-war reconstruction of the 1950s, the park was landscaped and decorated with standard park sculptures and fountains typical of Soviet landscape art of that period.
Present day
Today, the park retains its historical layout and functions as a public green space and a monument of landscape architecture. The Soviet-era fountain with the children’s sculpture has not survived to the present day in its original form, though the park remains a popular destination for residents.
