What is shown on the postcard

In the foreground, there is a walking alley with a flowerbed, strollers, and a metal fence along the edge of the terrace. To the left, sunshades in the shape of umbrellas stand on an observation deck. To the right, a concrete-and-steel arched pedestrian bridge rises over a ravine, with people walking across. The background features the vast Kremenchuk Reservoir (Dnieper River), dense green park vegetation, a steel television transmission tower, and the multi-story Tourist Hotel building.

Historical note

The park was founded in Cherkasy in 1967 on a sandy wasteland along the bank of the Dnieper River. The landscape design was developed by architects H. Ursatyi and V. Hniezdilov. The arched bridge spanning the ravine, which became one of the park’s main landmarks, was constructed in 1968–1969 by a bridge-building unit. The structure, approximately 102 meters long, connected the park area with the site where the hotel complex was later erected.

Present day

Today, the site is known as the Sosnovyi Bor Park (previously named Yuvileinyi Park). The pedestrian bridge, widely referred to by locals as the Bridge of Love, remains fully functional and serves as a highly popular spot for walks and photography. The park is designated as a monument of landscape architecture of national importance in Ukraine.
