Historical note
The Memorial to the Fighters of the Revolution in Luhansk was officially opened in November 1937 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the October Revolution. The design of the monument was developed by sculptor Aleksandr Sheremet. During World War II, the monument suffered severe damage during the German occupation of the city, but it was fully restored to its original appearance during the post-war reconstruction period.
Present day
Today, the memorial complex retains its historical status as a monument of history and architecture of national importance. It remains the central element of the Square of Revolutionary Fighters in Luhansk. The wider complex also includes two captured British Mark V tanks from the First World War, installed on either side of the square.
