Historical note
The Kherson Ship-mechanical Technical School traces its history back to the first maritime school in the Russian Empire, opened in 1834. The building shown on the postcard was restored and reconstructed in the post-war period. The monument to F. F. Ushakov in front of the main entrance was opened in 1957, emphasizing the admiral’s historical role in establishing the Black Sea Fleet and developing Kherson.
Present day
Today, the educational institution has been reorganized into the Kherson State Maritime Academy. The historical academy building was heavily damaged during military actions in 2022–2024. The monument to F. F. Ushakov was dismantled in October 2022.
