What is shown on the postcard
The postcard shows a four-story administration building with a large roof sign in Russian reading “ОРДЕНА ЛЕНИНА ТЕКСТИЛЬНЫЙ КОМБИНАТ” along with the enterprise’s logo. In front of the building is a green lawn with a circular decorative structure carrying Soviet emblems. An industrial cooling tower is visible on the far left background.
Historical note
The Kherson Cotton Combine (KhBK) was founded in 1952 and grew to become one of the largest textile manufacturers in the Soviet Union and Europe. The enterprise comprised several spinning and weaving factories, producing millions of meters of fabric annually. It was awarded the Order of Lenin for its industrial achievements.
Present day
Following the collapse of the USSR, production declined sharply, leading to the eventual shutdown of the enterprise in the early 2000s. Part of the vast factory premises was later repurposed into the “Fabrika” shopping and entertainment mall, while other administrative blocks became largely vacant or rented to commercial businesses.
