Historical note
The monument to Admiral Fyodor Ushakov, who played a significant role in the development of the Black Sea Fleet and early Kherson shipyards, was unveiled in 1957. The original statue was made of organic glass and replaced with a bronze replica in 1970. The monument was designed by sculptors P. I. Kravchenko and A. E. Chubin, and architect I. P. Sichenko. The classical building behind it belongs to the historic maritime school founded in 1834.
Present day
In October 2022, during the Russian occupation of Kherson, the monument to F. F. Ushakov was dismantled and removed from the city by retreating forces. Currently, the historical monument is missing from its pedestal in front of what is now the Kherson State Maritime Academy.
