What is shown on the postcard

Historical note

The Hill of Glory memorial in Cherkasy was established to commemorate the soldiers who defended and liberated the city during World War II. The site is historically significant, located on the former castle hill (ancient settlement) where the Holy Trinity Church once stood. While the grand monument of Mother Ukraine was officially unveiled in 1977, the paving of the terraces and construction of the memorial walls were already completed by 1973, as captured in this photograph.

Present day

Today, the Hill of Glory remains a central landmark and major memorial site in Cherkasy. It serves as an active civic space and a popular lookout point offering panoramic views over the Dnieper River and the Mytnytsia residential district.
