Historical note
The Eternal Flame on Mount Mithridat was lit on May 9, 1959, to honor the soldiers who died during the liberation of Kerch in World War II. It was constructed near the Obelisk of Glory, which had been erected earlier in 1944.
Present day
Today, the memorial complex on Mount Mithridat, including the Eternal Flame and the Obelisk of Glory, has been restored and remains a key historical landmark in Kerch, attracting numerous visitors.
