What is shown on the postcard
The foreground features a green park area with bushes and trees, including a conifer on the left. Behind them stands a long three-story light-colored institute building designed in the Classicist style. The facade features a prominent risalit with an attic and decorative cornice. The top of the frame is bordered by tree branches.
Historical note
The building was constructed between 1828 and 1832, designed by architect Ludwig Charlemagne for the Poltava Institute for Noble Maidens. In 1930, the Poltava Institute of Agricultural Construction Engineers (later renamed the Civil Engineering Institute) was established here. The building was heavily damaged during World War II but was fully restored and reconstructed by the early 1950s.
Present day
Today, this historic building houses the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University. The architectural complex is recognized as a monument of national significance and continues to serve educational purposes.
