Historical note
The new building of the Odesa Theatre of Musical Comedy was constructed in 1981 according to the design by architect Genrikh Topuz. The construction lasted several years and was completed just in time for the publication of this postcard. The theatre became one of the city’s most modern venues, with an auditorium seating 1,300 people.
Present day
Today, the theatre is named after the People’s Artist of the USSR, Mikhail Vodyanoy. The building has preserved its original Soviet modernist architectural style, and the “Girl on a Dolphin” sculpture in front of the main entrance remains a popular landmark for locals and tourists alike.
