What is shown on the postcard

The postcard shows a bronze monument to Vladimir Lenin, mounted on a tall, vertically fluted cylindrical dark granite pedestal. The full-length figure of Lenin is depicted wearing an open overcoat. The monument stands on a tiered granite steps-platform. Dense green trees and a clear blue sky are visible in the background. To the right of the pedestal’s base, a decorative red metal structure depicting a stylized hammer and sickle with flags is installed, and a rectangular flowerbed with red flowers is planted in front of the steps.

Historical note

The monument to Vladimir Lenin in Kremenchuk was officially unveiled in November 1971 on the city’s central square, then named Lenin Square (now Victory Square). The monument served as the main visual anchor of the square in front of the Kremenchuk City Council building. The surrounding area was used for Soviet-era holiday demonstrations, rallies, and official civic events.

Present day

As part of social and political changes in Ukraine, the monument to V. I. Lenin in Kremenchuk was dismantled on February 24, 2014. The granite pedestal and the stepped platform were subsequently completely removed. Currently, the square has been renamed Victory Square, and the site of the former monument has been converted into an open pedestrian area used for public and cultural events.
