Historical note
40 Let Oktyabrya Street was one of the key transport and residential arteries of Soviet-era Kherson, developed extensively during the post-war decades. Standard multi-family residential blocks were built here for workers of local enterprises, alongside shops and public services.
Present day
In 2016, as part of decommunization, the street was renamed Universytetska Street (after Kherson State University located nearby). Most Soviet-era buildings have retained their residential and commercial functions, though the shop signs have been modernized.
