The roof features the sign ‘АВТОВОКЗАЛ’ (Bus Station) and a transport emblem. In front of the building, there is a forecourt with a car park and a boarding platform where passengers are entering a bus.

In the foreground, an asphalt road features a moving LAZ bus and pedestrians on the sidewalks. In the background, Soviet-era multi-story residential buildings and green spaces are visible.

Historical note

The Kherson Central Bus Station was built and put into operation in the 1970s to serve suburban, intercity, and interregional bus routes. The building’s architecture is characteristic of Soviet modernism of that era: a combination of continuous glazing on the ground floor and massive geometric elements on the second floor, designed to protect the interior from the hot southern sun.

The station became a key transport hub in southern Ukraine, connecting Kherson with many major cities across the country.

Present day

In the post-Soviet period, the bus station continued to operate as the city’s main bus terminal (official address: 1 Polkovnyka Kedrovskoho Street). The building has preserved its original modernist appearance and its signature decorative facade lattice.

In the 21st century, the facility underwent partial interior modernization and minor renovations of the station square infrastructure, including the addition of commercial signage.
