Historical note
The original wooden arbor was erected on this site in 1909 to mark the bicentennial of the Battle of Poltava. During the German occupation in World War II, the structure was destroyed. The modern reinforced concrete rotunda was built in 1954, designed by architect Lev Vayngort, and was officially named the Rotunda of Peoples’ Friendship.
Present day
Today, the White Arbor remains a key symbol of Poltava and a popular lookout spot on Ivanova Gora. The structure is fully restored and features a dynamic LED lighting system synchronized with music during evening hours.
