Historical note

The Poltava Pedagogical Institute traces its history back to 1914 with the establishment of the Teacher’s Institute. In 1921, the institution was named after the prominent writer V. G. Korolenko. During the Soviet period, it grew into a major training center for educational staff in the region. The building depicted on the postcard was restored and reconstructed during the post-WWII reconstruction period.

Present day

Today, this building houses the Poltava V.G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University (PNPU). The university remains one of the oldest and most prestigious scientific and educational centers of Left-Bank Ukraine, and its historic building is preserved as a key local architectural landmark.
