Historical note
V. G. Korolenko passed away in Poltava in 1921 and was initially buried in the Old City Cemetery. In 1936, due to the cemetery’s liquidation, his remains were transferred to the City Garden (now Victory Park), close to his museum-estate. The current monument on the grave of the writer and his wife was unveiled in 1962.

The grave of V. G. Korolenko is recognized as a historical monument of national significance in Ukraine. It remains situated within the Victory Park in Poltava, adjacent to the V. G. Korolenko Literary Memorial Museum.
