Historical note
The Monument of Glory was unveiled on June 27, 1811, in the center of Round Square to commemorate the victory in the Battle of Poltava (1709). The monument’s design was developed by architect Thomas de Thomon, while the bronze parts, including the eagle figure, were crafted by sculptor Feodosy Shchedrin. The column was cast at the Luhansk Iron Works.
Present day
Today, the monument remains the central landmark of the Corpusny Garden in the heart of Poltava. It holds the status of a monument of history and art of national significance in Ukraine.
