Historical note
The monument to V. I. Lenin in Poltava was officially unveiled on April 22, 1960, on the square that then bore his name (now Constitution Square). The authors of the project were the renowned sculptor L. Kerbel and Soviet architects A. Dushkin and S. Kutyrev. The bronze statue, measuring 4.6 meters in height, was cast at the Leningrad “Monumentskulptura” factory, and the total height of the monument with the pedestal exceeded 9 meters.
Present day
On February 21, 2014, during social and political events in Ukraine, the monument was dismantled, and its granite pedestal was completely removed later on. Today, the site of the former monument has been turned into a renovated public garden on Constitution Square, and the general appearance of the area has changed.
