SKU: SKU-20250521205122 CitiesKyivUkraine Year: 1964

A 1964 Soviet postcard showing the State Circus building in Kyiv.

What is shown on the postcard

The circular circus hall with its distinctive dome and entrance group fills the frame; a square with a fountain, flower beds and pedestrians lies in front. The composition is typical of 1960s cards featuring major public buildings.

Historical note

Kyiv Circus on the former Moscow Avenue (now Peremohy Avenue) opened in 1960. Architects included Y. Biletsky and A. Zavarov; the round auditorium was a new type in Soviet circus design.

Present day

The National Circus of Ukraine still operates at 82 Peremohy Avenue. The building has been renovated several times, but the dome silhouette remains recognisable.
