Historical note

The Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve was established in 1926 on the territory of the ancient monastery complex founded in the 11th century. During the Soviet period, particularly in the 1980s, the preserve operated as a major museum center undergoing extensive research and restoration work.

Present day

Today, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The site functions as both an active monastery and a national preserve, attracting pilgrims and tourists from all over the world.
