Historical note
The development of Mykilska Borshchahivka as a major residential district in Kyiv began in the 1960s; in the 1970s, the first rapid tram line in the USSR was launched here. The Mound of Immortality (Mound of Glory) in Victory Park was created in 1967 to honor World War II heroes. The monument to the participants of the 1918 January Uprising was erected in Mariinskyi Park in 1967 on the mass grave of the Arsenal factory workers.
Present day
The transport interchange in Borshchahivka remains active, and the rapid tram line has been modernised. Victory Park continues to be a popular recreational area in the Dnipro district, with the restored Mound of Immortality.
