Historical note
The Lviv Children’s Railway was opened on November 8, 1951, utilizing the narrow-gauge tracks that had existed in Stryiskyi Park (formerly Kilinski Park) since the General Land Exhibition of 1894. Originally, the railway had three stations: Komsomolska, Pionerska, and Dytachy Gorodok. Until the mid-1960s, Kch4 and Kp4 steam locomotives served as the main rolling stock.
Present day
Today, the children’s railway continues to operate under the name ‘Mala Lvivska Zaliznytsia’ (Lviv Minor Railway). Two stations are active: Parkova (formerly Pionerska) and Sonyachna (formerly Komsomolska). The track length is 1.2 km. The pedestrian bridge over the tracks at Sonyachna station is still preserved in a modified form.
