What is shown on the postcard

Historical note

The skyline of Lviv has developed over several centuries since the 13th century. Most of the surviving architectural landmarks in the city center date back to the Renaissance, Baroque, and Classicism eras. The Town Hall on Rynok Square, visible on the horizon, was rebuilt in its current Classical style in 1835 based on a design by architects A. Wondraschka and F. Trescher.

Present day

Today, the historic center of Lviv is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site (since 1998). Most of the buildings captured in the postcard have been restored, retaining their historical appearance and serving as major tourist attractions.
