What is shown on the postcard
The left side of the postcard shows a perspective of Artema Street lined with multi-story apartment buildings, road traffic, and a Skoda 9Tr trolleybus. The right side shows the monument to Ya. A. Galan, set in a green square.
Historical note
Artema Street was intensively developed during the 1960s–1980s as a major transport artery in southern Lviv. The monument to Yaroslav Galan, designed by sculptors O. Pylov, A. Okhrimenko, and V. Saninin, was unveiled in 1972 on the square bearing his name (now Yevhena Petrushevycha Square).
Present day
In the early 1990s, Artema Street was renamed Volodymyra Velykoho Street, and Galan Square became Yevhena Petrushevycha Square. The monument to Yaroslav Galan was dismantled in 1992; today, a public green space remains on the site.
