This 1982 Soviet postcard depicts the Main Post Office building in the balneological resort town of Truskavets, Lviv Oblast.

What is shown on the postcard

The image shows a modernist three-story building with a semi-circular facade, decorated with vertical pilasters and narrow windows. A large sign with the words ‘ПОЧТА • ТЕЛЕГРАФ • ТЕЛЕФОН • ПОЧТА’ (Post • Telegraph • Telephone • Post) is installed on the roof. The ground floor features storefronts with ‘МАГАЗИН’ (Shop), ‘Союзпечать’ (Soyuzpechat), and ‘Филателия’ (Philately) signs. Pedestrians are walking in front of the building, and an asphalt road is in the foreground.

Historical note

The communications center building was constructed during the Soviet period to provide postal, telegraph, and telephone services to the growing number of visitors and residents of the Truskavets resort. It served as the central information and communication hub of the town.

Present day

Currently, the building houses the central post office branch of JSC ‘Ukrposhta’ (postal code 82200). The exterior of the building has been generally preserved, though the Soviet-era roof signs have been removed, and the ground floor spaces are partially rented out for commercial use.
