Historical note
The “Tarasova Gora” hotel in Kaniv was built in 1961 based on the design of the famous Ukrainian architect Natalia Chmutina. The building is designed in the style of Soviet modernism and is harmoniously integrated into the landscape of the Dnieper hills near Tarasova (Chernecha) Hill, where the poet Taras Shevchenko is buried. The hotel was intended to accommodate numerous tourists and pilgrims visiting the Shevchenko National Preserve.
Present day
Currently, the building of the former “Tarasova Gora” hotel has partially preserved its historical architectural appearance, though it requires renovation and modernization. The terraces and adjacent area still offer a panoramic view of the Dnieper River, attracting travelers heading to the Kobzar memorial complex.
