What is shown on the postcard
The image shows a modernist two-story cinema building featuring a large glass facade and the lettering “КИНОТЕАТР КОМСОМОЛЕЦ” on its roof. The foreground features flowerbeds, lawns, and street lamps, while multi-story residential buildings are visible in the far background.
Historical note
The “Komsomolets” cinema was opened in the Primorsky district of Zhdanov (Mariupol) in the 1970s. The building was constructed according to a standard wide-format cinema design typical of Soviet modernism of that era. It served as a major cultural and leisure center for the district, hosting movie screenings and community events.
Present day
In the post-Soviet period, the cinema ceased its original operations. The premises were repurposed for commercial use, including a shopping center. During the hostilities in 2022, the building suffered significant damage.
